Secret Weapons 2: Moses

Last week we spoke about the secret weapon of David 

THE WEAPON OF WORSHIP, UNWAVERING FIERCE LOYALTY TO YHWH GOD AND THE ONE TRUE GOD’S KINGDOM – THE FEAR OF THE LORD 

DAVID’S GREATEST SECRET WEAPON: THE MOST VALUABLE SKILLSET I CAN SEE IS 

DAVID KNEW HOW TO CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD ON HIS BEST AND WORST DAY. 

To call upon the name of the Lord means to present yourself before God and leave with a response from Heaven. 

Exodus 3:3 (NKJV)
Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” 

From the burning bush to the ten plagues, Red Sea, bread from heaven, and many more divinely directed experiences, one could only be amazed at how God uses this simple man for his great cause! 

The Bible says, “And there has not arisen a prophet since in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face” Deuteronomy 34:10 (ESV) 

Amazingly, although the life of Moses happened centuries back, there are still many things that we can learn from his example nowadays! 

At the beginning of his life,
Moses survived one of the worst child massacres in all history 

Pharaoh commanded all the newborn Hebrew males to be killed. Amazingly, God gave Moses’ parents wisdom to hide him and place him in a basket to be cradled by the Nile river. 

The Bible says, “By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict”
Hebrews 11:23 (ESV) 

• *  Moses was actually hidden actually until he was 80 years old
  
• *  The first plague was turning the Nile into blood. (God
  remembered and Moses never forgot what that devil, Pharaoh, did to the Jewish babies in that very river.
  At the end of his life, Moses was 120 years old and just as strong as when he was 30.
  He died at a good old age–120–but he was totally healthy.
  

Deuteronomy 34:7 – And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated. 

Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines the word “unabated” as “being at full strength or force.” 

After all, Moses ate food from heaven, had a thorough exercise regimen of climbing up and down the mountain, and even experienced standing in the presence of the King of Kings! 

He was a potential candidate to succeed Pharaoh. 

Moses, as Pharaoh’s daughter, had been trained and educated for rulership. In Egypt’s court, Moses received the highest civil and military training. 

Acts 7:22 says, “And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds.” However, in Hebrews 11:24, it is mentioned that “He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.” 

It is implied here that Moses had a prospect of inheriting immense treasures in Egypt. Possibly, even inheriting Pharaoh’s throne. 

He had to relearn things in the wilderness for forty years. “After forty years had passed, an angel appeared to Moses 

in the flames of a burning bush in the desert near Mount Sinai.” Acts 7:40 

The Bible says in Genesis 46:34 that all shepherds are an abomination to Egyptians. 

Despite Moses’ high academic background, the Lord made Moses a unique educational program. Like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, he was trained as a shepherd of the flock to be a shepherd of men later. 

He had a speech defect. 

Moses wasn’t a perfect man. Ironically, a good leader is often expected to be a good communicator. However, Moses was the opposite! 

When the Lord appeared to Moses through the burning bush, the Lord gave Him instructions to lead the exodus of Israel.
Yet, with hesitations, he said, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue” (Exodus 4:10, ESV). 

Paul, in the New Testament was just like that. 

And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
1 Corinthians 2:4 

He was the meekest man on earth. 

“Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth”
Numbers 12:3 (ESV) 

Meek does not mean weak. Meekness can also be characterized as being humble, considerate, and not being overly impressed by one’s self-importance. It means he had no personal agenda or side angle. 

He saw the greatest miracles ever The ten plaques
The parting of the red sea
The manna from heaven

His staff turned into a snake The burning bush
The healing of the people 

“There has not arisen a prophet since in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, none like him for all the signs and wonders that the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his land, and for all the mighty power and all the great deeds of terror that Moses did in the sight of all Israel”
Deuteronomy 34:10-12 

Yet none of those things are the what I would call “HIS SECRET WEAPON.” 

IN EXODUS 25, Moses was told by God that he would make the tabernacle according to the pattern shown to him on the mountain; 

And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it.
Exodus 25:8-9 

And see to it that you make them according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.
Exodus 25:40 

Exodus 39:32-43
Thus all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting was finished. And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses; so they did. 

33 And they brought the tabernacle to Moses, the tent and all its furnishings: its clasps, its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its sockets; 34 the covering of ram skins dyed red, the covering of badger skins, and the veil of the covering; 

35 the ark of the Testimony with its poles, and the mercy seat; 36 the table, all its utensils, and the showbread; 37 the pure gold lampstand with its lamps (the lamps set in order), all its utensils, and the oil for light; 

38 the gold altar, the anointing oil, and the sweet incense; the screen for the tabernacle door; 39 the bronze altar, its grate of bronze, its poles, and all its utensils; the laver with its base; 

40 the hangings of the court, its pillars and its sockets, the screen for the court gate, its cords, and its pegs; all the utensils for the service of the tabernacle, for the tent of meeting; 

41 and the garments of ministry, to minister in the holy place: the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and his sons’ garments, to minister as priests. 

42 According to all that the Lord had commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did all the work. 43 Then Moses looked over all the work, and indeed they had done it; as the Lord had commanded, just so they had done it. And Moses blessed them. 

DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS BETWEEN EXODUS 25 AND EXODUS 39? EXODUS 32. THE ACCOUNT OF THE GOLDEN CALF. 

THE SECRET WEAPON OF MOSES WAS RESILIENCE. WHEN GOD TOLD HIM TO DO SOMETHING IMPOSSIBLE ON THE MOUNTAIN, HE COULD FINISH THE PROJECT IN THE VALLEY WHILE SURROUNDED BY KNUCKLEHEADS. 

“The book of Hebrews tells us the Tabernacle was made according to God’s revealed pattern. Before Moses built the Tabernacle, he remained on the mountain forty days and nights, to give God time to show him the pattern and method of construction from the heavenly tabernacle. 

There were prescribed patterns for everything from the Holy Place to the altar, including the material and color of each layer of the tabernacle’s covering. Nothing was left to random design; there were prescribed plans and standards for everything. The altar, laver, table, lampstand, incense altar, Ark, and everything else were made according to God’s pattern, which even specified the kind of metal or wood to be used and their measurements and colors. Nothing was left to Moses’ design. 

Moses’ building of the tabernacle gives us much spiritual light. It shows us the proper standing of a servant of God in spiritual work. God prescribed everything concerning the tabernacle; He did not leave one single feature or small detail for Moses to design. God did not allow Moses to propose anything. He told Moses not only the general features of the tabernacle but the details as well. Not only were the patterns, materials, colors, and measurements of every item determined by God, but even the way they were to be made was determined by God. It was not enough for Moses to make them according to God’s prescribed measurements and pattern; he even had to make them according to God’s prescribed procedure. For example, the veils had to be made not only of fine linen but of fine linen that was twined. The lampstand had to be made not only of gold but of one piece of gold of beaten work. God did not leave any room for Moses to make any proposals. He knew what He wanted. He did not need man to be His counselor, and He would not allow His servants to follow their own ideas in carrying out His work.” (Collected Works of Watchman Nee, vol. 38, pp. 351-352) Thank you
