What is Rosh Hashanah? The Feast of Trumpets
Feasts = Moedims
Appointed times to meet with God.
Feasts are times of remembrance, but also shadows of things to come.
These are not the feasts of the Jews.
Leviticus 23:2 – “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘The feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.’”
GOD WANTS TO MEET WITH US AND HE SETS APPOINTMENTS TO SEE WHO WILL SHOW UP.
Rosh Hashanah – Jewish New Year
The first day of the first month, Tishrei, on the Jewish CIVIL calendar. This calendar is the oldest calendar of the Jews and starts with creation day 1.
Tishrei is also the seventh (fullness; end of a timeline) month on the Jewish RELIGIOUS calendar. God Himself established this calendar through Moses at the time of the Exodus. Why?
God loves redemption and freedom. He wanted the Jews to remember their miraculous deliverance from over 400 years of bondage and their journey to the Promised Land.
To the Jews, Rosh Hashanah is THE HEAD OF THE YEAR – the beginning – not only of the year 5784, but of all years previous. How could that be?
Because on Rosh Hashanah, God empowers his people to reach back into time and adjust the meaning of all that has passed. REDEEMING TIME!
The Feast of Trumpets – Rosh Hashanah – is the only feast set up to intentionally begin under cover of darkness.
Prophetic picture of a Jewish wedding feast
Bridegroom usually came at midnight to steal his bride away.
THE FEAST THAT NO MAN KNOWS THE HOUR OR THE DAY:
Matthew 24:36 – “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”
Jesus was a Jew from Galilee. His disciples were all Galilean Jews. They understood Jewish wedding language and customs.
No man knows the day or the hour of Rosh Hashanah because nobody knows when the tiny sliver of the New Moon will rise. Jesus was a Jew and knew full well what Rosh Hashanah was about when he said,“No man knows the day or the hour of my coming.” He was pointing to Rosh Hashanah as the time he would return for his Bride –the church.
JESUS WILL FULFILL THIS PROPHECY
The first three Feasts of Passover, Unleavened Bread and First Fruits happen in the spring and were fulfilled by Jesus to the day and the very hour.
The fourth feast – Pentecost – was fulfilled when the Holy Spirit poured out over the 3,000 in the Upper Room 40 days after Christ’s resurrection.
To complete the Gospel message, Jesus must fulfill the fall feasts or High Holy Days:
Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) – The Day of Jesus’ return to get His bride
Atonement (Yom Kippur) – Holiest Day of the Year, Day of Judgment
Tabernacles (Sukkot) – God again dwells with man
10 days between Trumpets/Rosh Hashanah (Sept. 15) and Atonement/Yom Kippur (Sept. 25) are called the “Days of Awe.”
“TRUMPET” FOUND 111 TIMES IN NKJV
90 in Old Testament
21 in New Testament (3×7–end of a timeline)
The Feast of Trumpets signifies Jesus’ return on the clouds.
- High Priest blows 99 long blasts of the shofar as a CALL TO REPENT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE
- The 100th blast is for YHWH when comes to rescue his people.
The final trump of Isaiah 27:13
So it shall be in that day: The great trumpet will be blown; They will come, who are about to perish in the land of Assyria, And they who are outcasts in the land of Egypt,
And shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
5784 is all about the four, the Hebrew letter/number “dalet.” Symbolic of a door, dalet represents choice. The first mention of a door in scripture is in Genesis, you guessed it, chapter four:
“If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” – Genesis 4:7
Cain chose to close the door between him and God, and killed his brother. In stark contrast, the 84th verse of the Old Testament offered a double door of blessing for obedience. Do you see it?
Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, – Genesis 4:4
Double four, double door! Now let’s look at the promise in the 84th verse of the New Testament.
They immediately left their nets and followed Him – Matthew 4:20
If you add 4+4+4+4+4+4, you get 24 and the Gregorian year 2024. When you follow Jesus, the door is multiplied because Jesus calls Himself “The Door” not once, but twice:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep…I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” – John 10:7,9
My friend, this is a “right now” word for the church and you. Look at the two churches in Revelation where Jesus mentions doors.
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, “These things says He who is holy, He who is true, He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens. I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it;” – Revelation 3:7-8
That open door comes with a great big promise.
Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. Behold, I am coming quickly! – Revelation 3:10-11
Who qualifies for the rapture? Those with “brotherly love,” who do not deny Christ and persevere no matter what the demonic mob throws at them. Jesus didn’t say we would “survive” or “get through” the tribulation. He said, “be kept from.” I will not give up the hope of the pre-trib rapture. I won’t do it.
While the church of “Brotherly Love” in Philadelphia got an open door, Jesus is on the outside of the Church of Laodicea. He’s trying to get back in!
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me. – Revelation 3:20
My friends, Laodicea means “human rights.” They were self-centered, all about their woke agendas and feelings. In these last days, you can be about your own cause or the cause of Christ, which is to “love God and love people.” Which church are you? I ask because right after Jesus pleads with Laodicea to open the door, the church is taken up through another door and another four.
After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.” – Revelation 4:1
The next thing John sees is the throne room of God. There are 24 thrones and 24 elders–A WORD FOR 2024–worshiping God saying Holy Holy Holy. What does Psalms 24 say?
Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully. – Psalms 24:3-4
Not only is Psalms 24 a prophetic type of Revelation 4 throne room scene, it is confirmation of the rapture. Check out Jesus riding through the gates and doors!
Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. – Psalms 24:7-10
We are to “lift up our heads” as Jesus told His disciples in Luke 21:28. Be watchful because Psalms 84 also speaks of doors.
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. – Psalms 84:10
Am I saying the rapture will happen in 5784/2024? I’m saying there’s never been a more prophetic time. The prophetic markers of doors and fours are shouting, “Look up! Your redemption draws near!”
